Lounge Protection…And Why Choosing The Wrong Technician Will, Have You Paying Good Money For Nothing

If You Don’t Invest a Few Bucks Extra On a Proper Certified And Licensed Technician You Might Find Yourself Dishing Out Your Hard Earned Money For Watered Down Lounge Protection That Won’t Work

From the desk of: Mark A Briody
Founder of the Carpet Cleaning Consumer Guide

Dear friend,

If you’re looking to hire a technician to apply protection to your lounge (upholstery) in the form of scotch guard, Teflon or any other type of lounge protection, you really should read this article first…it could save you money.

The sneaky tricks that technicians use are this…they will often water down a water based lounge protection by mixing it with way to much water. As proper water based lounge protection should be mixed with water to activate it the procedure is often misused.

The correct mixing ratio is 4:1. That’s four parts water to one part protection.

Obviously by adding extra water they are making extra money at your expense.

Solvent Based Lounge Protection
Verses the Water Based Protection

If the technician carries Teflon or some of the other solvent based protectors on the market they will NOT water it down because it is not water based. These protectors are not able to be mixed with water and are the best quality lounge protectors on the market. They will be more expensive but if you are after quality you can’t go past such products.

When a technician applies the lounge protection regardless of its type they should ALWAYS brush it in with an application brush in the main areas…like the seating areas and arms of the lounge. If they don’t do this the application of the protector is not being applies properly and will not be as affective.

How To Save Money When Having Lounge Protection Applied
You can save a considerable amount of money by asking for the technician to apply the protector to the main areas and leave the back of the lounge free as you are unlikely to spill anything there.

Here's a tip when having your lounge protected…Be sure to have it cleaned first even if its new because if there is any oily particles in the fabric (can be left by people sitting on it in the store) the protector will NOT stick to the fabric and you would have just waisted your hard earned money.

How Much Should You Expect To Invest With A Proper Lounge Protection Application Technician?

If you’re looking at having your Lounge Protected with a water based protector you should expect anywhere from $25 to $37 a seating position.

If you’re looking at having your lounge protected with a solvent based protector you should expect anywhere from $33 to $45 a seating position.

Just about any carpet cleaner will apply lounge protection. There are very few technicians who do lounge protection only. As a matter of a fact I’ve never herd of any that provide that service only.

Hello, I needed a carpet cleaner and looked on your webpage and rang “Sydney Wide Steam Cleaning” one of your recommended carpet cleaners.   Tony the owner/operator has just finished cleaning my carpets and I am delighted.  He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional.  He quoted me a price over the phone and did not charge a penny more.  He did an excellent job and I will definitely use his services again and pass on his name to friends and family.  I had a very bad experience with carpet cleaners in the United States and know now to use web sites like yours to get good advice. Thanks from a very satisfied customer.

Dear author of this cleaning consumer guide, My name is Jessie and I have been badly burnt by carpet cleaning companies in the past. They always give a quote and then charge me more when they come to my home. I decided to use one of the recommended carpet cleaners from your guide and I was pleasantly surprised. The gentleman was professional and did a wonderful job. Thank you very much.

To whom it may be of interest, My name is Ted Nickols and I used the questions this consumer guide suggests to hire a carpet cleaner here in Victoria. It worked although I did have to call several cleaners before one was professional enough to follow the rules. That carpet cleaner did a remarkable job for me and I am very pleased.

It's about time there was a guide like this. I have been a genuine and honest carpet cleaner for many years and I am often shot down in flames because I initially quote an honest price rather than a cheap and deceptive price over the phone. Thank you for putting such a guide together as it also aids us genuine and honest carpet cleaners.

It helped me to finally invest in a good cleaner. I did pay more than some of the advertised prices but the result was totally worth it. Thank you, thank you...
